Gefahrstoffzentrum (GSZ) Kaiserslautern GmbH has approval (see Annex) for the storage of chemical products in accordance with the German Federal Immission Control Act (BImSchG) in conjunction with the 4th Federal Immission Control Ordinance (BImSchV), Annex No. 9.35. This entitles us to store over 1,000 t of toxic, highly toxic, flammable materials or preparations. Due to the quantity of hazardous substances, we are a business segment with extended duties according to the 12th Hazardous Incident Ordinance (BImSchV). Our safety report is always open to the public.

Storage is carried out according to the VCI storage concept, which classifies the substances and preparations to be stored into "storage classes" according to their hazard characteristics. The following storage classes are stored in the Gefahrstoffzentrum:

THE FOLLOWING SUBSTANCE GROUPS ARE GENERALLY EXCLUDED FROM STORAGE IN THE GEFAHRSTOFFZENTRUM KAISERSLAUTERN:

· Storage class 1: explosive substances

· Storage class 2 A: gasses that are compressed, liquefied or dissolved under pressure

· Storage class 2 B: aerosol dispensers

· Storage class 4.1 A: flammable solid substances (2nd SprengStoffV: storage classes I-III)

· Storage class 4.2: substances liable to spontaneous combustion

· Storage class 4.3: substances which, in contact with water, emit flammable gases

· Storage class 6.2: infectious substances

· Storage class 7: radioactive substances

STORAGE OF SINGLE SUBSTANCES ANNEX I OF THE HAZARDOUS INCIDENT ORDINANCE

When storing substances designated as a single substance in Annex I of the Hazardous Incident Ordinance and falling under one of the storage classes stored by us, storage is possible given a suitable preparation time. An extension of the safety report and a notification of the authority one month prior to storage may be required.
